* The Murat Centre is partnering with Robert Friedman Presents to bring Moscow Classical Ballet's 1994 version of Vasily Vainonen's Nutcracker to the Murat.

The Moscow company was founded in 1966 to provide more opportunities for young Russian dancers and choreographers. As a worldwide touring company, they have introduced daring new works, including The Creation of the World, which BI staged Feb. 6-7, 2003. Mikhail Baryshnikov and Irina Kolpakova (the former BI assistant artistic director) performed as Creation's first Adam and Eve at its 1971 premiere. The BI production included costumes and scenery by Elizaveta Dvorkina, who has also designed the Moscow company's Nutcracker.

Robert Friedman, during a telephone interview, described the "happy scramble" to extend for a week the U.S. tour of the Moscow Classical Ballet.

Moscow Classical Ballet's The Nutcracker will be performed Dec. 16-17 at 8 p.m.; Dec. 17-18 at 2 p.m.; and Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20-$70; discounts for Ballet Internationale ticket holders. Call 317-239-5151; online: www.murat.com.
