"As the associate professor of psychology and adjunct associate professor in the Information School at the University of Washington, Peter H. Kahn Jr. believes society will turn to robotic technology in the near future, and it’s about time we start learning what that means.
“Personified robots will become part of our everyday social lives. How exactly they will is not yet known. But it will happen,” Kahn said. “As personified robots become more a part of our lives, they will pose us with significant challenges, socially and morally.”
On Nov. 1, Kahn will present a free lecture, “Social and Moral Relationships with Personified Robots,” at IUPUI to educate the public about these considerable challenges and the distinct relationship that could form between humans and robots. The lecture will begin at noon in the Ruth Lilly Auditorium at IUPUI. Check out http://informatics.iupui.edu/events for more information or other upcoming lectures.
