In the decade since he abandoned driving forklifts to spend his weekends sandwiched between a microphone and a brick wall, Dale Jones hasn't slowed down long enough to question his decision. Not that he has cause to. Like a trucker lit on speed, he motors hard and fast. Jones grew up watching comics like Abbott and Costello, Buster Keaton, Jerry Lewis, Tim Conway and Don Knotts and their slapstick, loose-limbed influences show up in his act like a pie in the face. Plus, he does a helluva toy monkey impression.
Jones hits Indy on a hot streak of sorts. In February, he landed in the finals of the Great Canadian Laugh Off and he recently debuted a new DVD, currently available just at his shows but hopefully it'll pop up soon on his Web site (www.dalejonescomic.com).
Forget the rest of the Joneses, if you want to catch up with Dale he'll be at One Liners, 50 Airport Parkway East, in Greenwood, March 22-26 with two shows each on Saturday and Sunday. The show is rated R for general blueness and tickets will set you back $11; download a free one at www.onelinerscomedy.com. For reservations, show times and such, call 317-889-5233.
