Three and a half stars
Cracker’s Downtown; Oct. 31
He’s a dirty old pervert, he looked like he woke up three minutes before the show and he was so disoriented that he told the same jokes multiple times. But he was absolutely hilarious; a true classic, and a spectacle of character. John Fox has a whiskey-burned voice and old-man charm that stings as much as it tickles; he is what would happen if Charles Bukowski did stand-up comedy. If you saw him walking down the street, you would avert your eyes and start thinking of an excuse not to give him any change. He has completely mastered the art of uncomfortable comedy, with an uncanny ability to make you laugh — if only because the alternate choice is crying in horror.
