"Love, jealousy and defiance will open Indianapolis Opera’s season in Bizet’s Carmen. Set in Seville, the colorful cast of characters, intoxicating dances and riveting drama make Carmen one of today’s most popular operas.
After Carmen captures the heart of the young soldier Don Jose, she locks her sights on the handsome toreador Escamillo. After a passionate confrontation outside the bullring, Carmen rejects Don Jose’s pleas to take him back.
The opera is sung in French with English surtitles projected above the stage and features the Indianapolis Opera Chorus and the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra.
