Haven't heard of the Indianapolis City Ballet? That's because it's a new arrival on the local scene. An Evening with the Stars, a gala that will bring an international array of guest dancers to the Murat Theatre (502 N. New Jersey St.) for the performance of 11 different pieces, including classical, romantic, modern and contemporary works, as well as a piece choreographed by Dance Kaleidoscope's David Hochoy, is the ICB's way of introducing itself to Indianapolis - and also a way of taking the city's temperature about future endeavors. Among the dancers performing will be American Ballet Theatre's Sarah Lane, Alicia Amatriain and Jason Reilly from the Stuttgart Ballet, the Kirov's Denis and Anastasia Matvienko, and New York City Ballet's Joaquin De Luz and Tiler Peck. It's a chance to sample a spectrum of ballet styles and vocabulary in a single evening. A dance lover's feast. The gala takes place Saturday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are $25, $45 and $65 and are available at www.murat.com or via telephone at 1-877-598-8703.
