"This month’s Dec. 1 IDADA First Friday Art Tour (www.idada.org) will be even more exciting given that it is officially Christmas shopping time.
Two openings of exceptional note are the one-night-only Toys event and the Stutz Gallery opening.
Primary Colours’ annual holiday event, Toys, will this year take place at 409 Massachusetts Ave. (the old Young & Laramore Building) from 5-10 p.m. The group show is made up of art fashioned around the theme of toys, and invited artists are free to interpret the theme as they see fit. Attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items that will be collected for the Julian Center. DJs Al Smashya (Justin Cooper) and Dicky Fox (Mike Graves) will be sharing the spin time during the exhibition, and hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.
Over at the Stutz Gallery, 1005 N. Senate, the whimsical works of Emma Overman and Michael Krisch will be featured in Tales from a Dark, Dark Night. The opening reception will run from 5:30-9 p.m., and the exhibit will remain on view through Jan. 29, 2007. The show’s statement says, “This show is a merging of figments from two imaginations, conjured up during moments of hiding from telephones, televisions and computers.” For more information, call 317-833-7000 or go to www.stutzartgallery.com.
