"Now back in town after their European tour, Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre will present Between Heaven and Earth June 15-16, 8 p.m. at Pike Performing Arts Center.
GHDT will reverently explore faith through dance and world music. Nature-based paganism, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism and Christianity will be represented and the works will examine the depths of human beliefs and their intertwining themes.
Dances include GHDT masterpiece “Joan of Arc,” the classic “1941” that depicts a mother’s grief and loss during The Holocaust, “Every Breath is a Prayer,” in which dancers portray prayers of peace set free in the wind, and “Between Heaven and Earth,” a duet inspired by Eastern faiths that portrays a spiritual relationship between two human souls. Also featured in the concert will be the world premiere of “The Wedding,” inspired by the Roma traditions.
Tickets are $25, or $20 for students and seniors. Tickets will be available at the door, 6701 Zionsville Road. For more information, go to www.gregoryhancockdancetheatre.org.
