"April 1, the Indianapolis Museum of Art will open All Dressed Up: The Latest Additions, an exhibition that features more than 30 recent additions to the IMA’s permanent collection by some of the most well-known names in fashion.
The exhibit includes garments by revered European couturiers such as Chanel, Balenciaga, Givenchy and Lanvin. American fashion designers — including Indiana’s own Norman Norell and Halston — also will be represented. Many of these garments will be on view for the first time.
One highlight is an 1880s Imperial Russian court dress, created by Charles Fredrick Worth for Maria Maximilianova Romanovska, a great-granddaughter of the French Empress Josephine and granddaughter of Tsar Nicholas I of Russia.
The exhibit will be up through Dec. 30. The IMA is located at 4000 Michigan Road, 317-923-1331.
