Bob Beckmann loved a great show. Before his untimely passing at the age of 59 in 2001, Beckmann was one of the city’s leading arts advocates, as well as a frequent performer in community theater and an avid photographer. In 2002, the Beckmann Theatre was founded in his name.
Now, a who’s who of the city’s top cabaret performers will put on a show to honor Beckmann’s memory and raise funds for the Beckmann Theatre. Cabaret Fest 2006 will take place at 8 p.m. on Oct. 16 at the American Cabaret Theatre, 401 E. Michigan St. Produced and directed by Tom Alvarez, with musical direction by John Austin Butsch, this promises to be show Beckmann would love.
Among the artists who will be performing are Phillip Armstrong, Diane Tsao Boehm, Bill Book, Peggy Chambers, Shannon Forsell, Mark Goetzinger, Jimmy Guilford, Jake Haley, Joyce Licorish, Su Ours, Dave Ruark, Melissa Schott, Kelleen Strutz and Brenda Williams.
General admission tickets are $35. VIP seating is $50 and $100, which will get you into a reception and a champagne gathering with the cast after the show. For more information call 317-631-0334 or go to www.beckmanntheatre.org.
