'Bookish': books as art

Last year, the Harrison Center for the Arts scored with a show that featured books as art called Book It! Aug. 7, the Harrison Gallery, 1505 N. Delaware St., opens a new show, Bookish, that builds on that concept with another exhibit of artists' books by local and regional artists, including Karen Baldner, Elizabeth Tuburgen, Dante Ventresca and Katherine Webb. Opening night, IU Bloomington professor Tony Webb will speak and book arts dealers Bill and Vicki Stewart of Vamp and Tramp Booksellers will also be on hand. Students from Herron High School's Summer Academe program will present a range of artwork, Herron interns for the Harrison Center will present the projects they have been involved in while at the Harrison Center, Growing Spaces by Maren Bell will be in Hank & Dolly's Gallery, learn basic bookmaking techniques and Joe Paulson performs at 7 p.m. The opening is from 6-9 p.m. and the exhibit will remain on view through Aug. 22.
