The Designers’ Closet sale of women’s designer apparel, jewelry and accessories at below consignment prices could possibly be one of the best little shopping secrets in the city.  You’ll find almost new designer casual, corporate and evening wear from St. John, Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, DKNY, Anne Taylor, Jones New York, Gucci, Armani, Ellen Tracy, Doncaster and much more at this once a year fundraiser.  An exciting first this year are items donated by celebrities. Meryl Streep has donated a purse and supermodel Tyra Banks has donated an entire ensemble to the sale.  All proceeds from this annual boutique benefit go directly to Coburn Place Safe Haven, a transitional housing program for victims of domestic abuse, so this shopping experience should be guiltless. In fact, it should be your excuse to indulge and splurge a little more than usual. After all, it’s for a wonderful cause. Coburn Place provides safe, affordable housing and supportive services to women and children who are homeless because of leaving abusive situations.  Cash, checks, MasterCard and Visa will be accepted and all sales are final. The sale takes place Thursday and Friday (Oct. 7 and 8) at 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 9, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at North United Methodist Church, 3805 N. Meridian St.  For more information visit www.coburnplace.org.
