"The Indianapolis Women’s Chorus will present Spirit Matters, a unique music and theater production, on June 16-18 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis, 615 W. 43rd St. Chorus members, some of whom are accomplished writers, composers and actors and some of whom made the daring leap to explore their creativity for the first time, have created their own works for the concert. Artistic Director Pamela Blevins Hinkle and a panel of advisors have provided guidance over the past year and a half. The chorus has also commissioned a new work by noted composer Jennifer Stasack.
Works performed in the show include moving and humorous stories, poems and visual art as well as music. The concert will be performed in the round so as to provide an intimate setting.
Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. (ASL interpreting for the deaf Sunday). Tickets are $16 in advance, with discounts for children and groups. Local ticket outlets include Outword Bound, English Ivy’s, Downtown Olly’s, all Curley’s Cleaners, Metropolis Gift Shop and Multimedia. For more information, go to www.indychoruses.org.
