"Created in 1976, the Dallas Black Dance Theatre began as a community organization and evolved into a fully professional dance theater that’s been described as “feisty” and “fearless” in its performances of modern, jazz, ethnic and spiritual works.
Oct. 3 the DBDT opens the Madame Walker Theatre’s performing arts season with a show at 6:30 p.m. Under the direction of founder and artistic director Ann Williams, DBDT’s repertoire includes works by such choreographers as Alvin Ailey, Talley Beatty, Christopher Huggins, Kevin Jeff, Elisa Monte, David Parsons, Jessica Lang and Alonzo King.
