"You think abstract art went out with the Edsel? Herron School of Art & Design kicks off its season with Material Presence, a show featuring recent work by seven emerging artists dealing with abstraction today. Through an emphasis on materials and process, these artists explore the boundaries and possibilities of abstract art and the expanded definition of painting. The artists blur the barriers between painting, sculpture and installation.
Artists include Scott Grow (Indianapolis), Michael Just (Dusseldorf), Joseph McSpadden (Lawrenceville, Ga.), Danielle Riede (Richmond, Va.), Eric Sall (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Christian Tedeschi (Santa Monica, Calif.) and Wendy White (Brooklyn, N.Y.). The show is curated by Scott Grow. Artists’ reception is Sept. 7, 5-9. Herron is located at 735 W. New York St. on the IUPUI campus. For more information, contact 317-504-8219 or email@example.com.
