If you're in Broad Ripple Friday night for the Broad Ripple Gallery Tour, you'll want to take time to visit the Indianapolis Art Center's annual Open House from 6-8 p.m. IAC throws open its classrooms and studios for faculty and student demonstrations that invite you to try your hand at spinning a pot, painting a still life or making a beaded bracelet. There will also be several exhibitions on view, a book signing featuring J. Scott McElroy with his new book, Finding Divine Inspiration: Working With Spirituality in Your Creativity and food by Yats, served in student and faculty-crafted bowls you can buy for $5 and $10. And once you've toured the IAC, you can take a walk in its ArtsPark along the White River -- one of the most pleasant places to stroll in town. Better yet, you can walk to the IAC via the Monon Trail. The Open House is free. Go to or call (317) 255-2464 for information.
