A benefit for the Julian Center, A Woman is an art event that celebrates the feminine form, an iconic emblem throughout art history. Artworks by over 40 artists from around the globe (and right here in Indianapolis) on this time-honored subject will not just be thematically exhibited, but for sale of course.
One special Pablo Picasso sketch will actually be auctioned as a part of the evening’s festive fund-raising seductions. Of note will be an interactive performance art piece executed by Natalie Johnson and Annie Stultz designed to fully engage attendees in the spirit of the event.
It’s the hope of the organizers that attendees will dress extravagantly fun, as if they were their own uninhibited walking works of art as well. The tone of the evening will be set with music provided by local rock-star woman Heidi Gluck of The Pieces and Stone Girls, along with Courtney Kaiser and Arcade. If you have yet to visit the Bodner Studio Gallery then this is your opportunity to do so while also generating funds for a worthwhile local charity.
A Woman takes place Saturday, June 5, at the Bodner Studio Gallery, 1200 S. Madison, beginning at 6:30. The Picasso is to be auctioned at 8:45 p.m. For more information visit www.arthamburger.com/awoman.html. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.ticketweb.com or at the door.
