Actors Theatre of Indiana has the holiday weekend covered with its presentation of the musical Forever Plaid.
The story is about the singing sensation The Plaids. On their way to their first big concert, they wind up in a collision with a bus full of parochial school girls and subsequently find themselves in heaven. Not about to let their dream die along with them, they wrangle a special dispensation, and, along with a little help from some holes in the ozone layer and astro-technical stuff that allows them to return to Earth, they return to perform the show they never got to do in life, and finish what they began.
The show combines laughter with ’50s pop classics, including “Sixteen Tons,” “Three Coins in the Fountain,” “Catch A Falling Star,” “Rags To Riches,” “Heart and Soul” and many more.
The play runs Dec. 21-30. Show times are Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.; Wednesdays, 2:30 and 7:30 p.m.; Thursdays, 7:30 p.m.; and Fridays, 2:30 and 8 p.m. Performances will be held at the Zionsville Performing Arts Center, 1000 Mulberry St. Tickets are $27-$30, with discounts for students and seniors.
