Q Artistry’s charming Monster Concert brings a bit of Las Vegas to the Irvington Halloween festival. With songs like “Viva Transylvania,” “I Put A Little Spell on You” and the delightful “Come Brain or Come Shine,” the 45-minute variety show is light-hearted and age appropriate.
Maria Meschi (Bride of Frankenstein) shines as the director, co-writer and star. Her strong ensemble of classic movie monsters obviously enjoyed putting together the show — and that enthusiasm is infectious. The most organic and entertaining moments of the show came when performers interacted with kids in the audience.
While opening night was plagued by a few technical glitches, the homespun trappings of the show excused any mechanical mishaps. The show is running for one week only, with two shows on Oct. 25 during the Irvington Halloween Festival's Street Fair. It’s worth ducking in out of the cold for this campy concert.
