Theater-goers waited with baited breath while final negotiations raged. But now it’s time for the blood fest to begin! Evil Dead: The Musical will make its Indiana premiere at Theatre on the Square Oct. 10-Nov. 15.
The show is based on Sam Raimi’s ’80s cult classic films: Five college kids travel to a cabin in the woods and accidentally unleash an evil force. Campy musical mayhem ensues with songs like “All the Men in my Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons,” “Look Who’s Evil Now” and “Do the Necronomicon.” The moose sings and blood flies. Ryan Ward, who originated the role of Ash, described it as being “unlike any theater show you’ve ever been to. One word I would describe it as is ‘raucous.’ It’s like a rock concert.” The New York Off-Broadway production ran Nov. 1, 2006-Feb. 17, 2007, and the musical just closed a successful run in Toronto.
Show times for Evil Dead: The Musical are Fridays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m. Tickets are $25, $20 for seniors, full-time students and military personnel. For information and reservations, TOTS, 627 Massachusetts Ave., at 317-685-TOTS or go to www.tots.org.
