IndyFringe 2006 is now taking applications for next summer’s festival. The second annual IndyFringe will be held from Aug. 25-Sept. 3.
If you want to produce a show, applications are available for download at the Fringe Web site, www.indyfringe.org. Completed applications must be received at the IndyFringe mailbox by 5 p.m. Jan. 27. To apply, producers should complete the application form, pay the refundable $400 fee and mail to IndyFringe, PO Box 44121, Indianapolis, IN 46244. Detailed show information is not required at the time of submission and show title and description can be changed at a later date. The main thing here is to get in line since the Festival is a nonjuried, first-come-first-served event that will be comprised of 18 Indiana shows, 12 shows from elsewhere in the USA and six international slots. Applications will be accepted in the order in which they are received.
Over 4,700 people attended last year’s IndyFringe, seeing 28 shows over 10 days and earning $38,000 for performers. The Festival returns all box office receipts to the performers. IndyFringe 2006 will host 36 performing companies in four or five theaters. In the meantime, Fringe Fridays will provide monthly performer showcases where performers, writers, producers, volunteers and audiences can catch a taste of what’s in the works for next August. For more information contact Pauline Moffat at 317-522-8099 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. IndyFringe poster art competition IndyFringe is also calling for entries from local visual artists for an open competition to design a logo for the 2006 festival. The winner will be announced at the end of April and gets $500 and a VIP pass to all Fringe events. Winning artwork will appear on posters, postcards, programs, print advertising, tickets, T-shirts, transfers and backer buttons. For guidelines and entry forms go to www.indyfringe.org.
