Fringe review: Andrea Merlyn's Book of Secrets

Skinny Dipping — Not Your Mama's One-Woman Show

Shanna Shrum; Chicago

4 Stars

Even without the slightest interest in Liza Minnelli —

to whom the show pays tribute — I found Skinny Dipping to be an

enthralling, well-balanced show of character-based comedy and subtle drama.

Shanna Shrum's intensity was supported by her vast talent as she went through a

handful of intertwining dialogues — each featuring its own unique

character. This performance is a complete package; it manages to cut through

layers of depth that most hour-long shows fail to, and Shrum is able to do it

all by herself.It is incredibly

dynamic, especially for a one-woman show, and Shrum's dark sense of humor is a

refreshing surprise.
