Fringe review: Andrea Merlyn's Book of Secrets

Madwomen's Late Night Cabaret

By Julie Lyn Barber, Upland, IN

3 stars

Crisp repartee, musical interludes as double entendres,

sharp costumes, unexpected visual effects and on-the-mark-comedic timing turn

this DivaFest reprise into a delightful "romp through women's history." A cast

of four superb song stylists — along with a virtuoso pianist —

spotlight the foibles of a dozen plus females you might or might not want to

meet on a dark night. Witty with bite, this script hits on expanded insights to

make us think while we're laughing. Was Lady Godiva the prototype for the

1960s? Was Marta Hari misunderstood?
