Fringe review: Andrea Merlyn's Book of Secrets

Ashes to Ashes

Twilight Productions; Indianapolis

4 and a half stars

What happens when a career-locked man visits his aging hippy

father to help spread the ashes of his deceased mother? In this case, really

solid drama. The dynamics of the script and the interplay of the actors is

quite astounding, as father and son are hurled into a situation full of pain

and self-reflection. Above all, it's the rapport between the two main actors

that turns the show into something quite moving and beautiful. Some of the

play's best moments arise when the two men are simply sitting and reminiscing,

borne on waves of remembrance into the past.
