Doubleheader

The Phoenix Theatre and DePauw University in Greencastle are collaborating to bring to both stages Rhythms, a play written and directed by Chris White, assistant professor of English at DePauw, and produced by Tim Good, associate professor of communication and theater at the university.

Rhythms will star Hollywood actress Rae Dawn Chong, who has appeared in films including The Color Purple, Quest for Fire and The Visit.

The play follows seven women in a rural county in Virginia, revealing the shared nature of the cyclical feminine through stories of birth, loss, food, sex, music, work, the natural world and death. Rhythms received the 1995 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding New Play.

Show dates are April 12-15 at the Phoenix (Thursday at 7 p.m., Friday-Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.); then it will go to DePauw April 17-18.

Tickets are $25, $15 for those 24 and under. For reservations, call the Phoenix, 749 N. Park Ave., at 317-635-PLAY.
