INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, in partnership with Indianapolis
Power & Light Company, Community Health Network, Indy Parks and Recreation, the Arts Council of Indianapolis and the City of Indianapolis, will perform its annual outdoor Indianapolis Power & Light Company Symphony in the Park Series program of the summer on Tuesday, July 21, at 7:30 p.m. at Ellenberger Park, located at 5309 E. St. Clair St on the east side of Indianapolis. Admission is free, and audiences are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic dinners to the concert.
This annual series is part of the Orchestra's free Indianapolis Power & Light CompanySound of the City community outreach concerts performed each year in neighborhoods across Indiana. Indianapolis Power & Light Company is the Title Sponsor of this series. Community Health Network is the Premiere Sponsor for this concert. Additional support is provided by Indy Parks and Recreation, the Arts Council of Indianapolis and the City of Indianapolis.
Due to limited parking spaces at Ellenberger Park, Community Hospital East, located at 16th Street and Ritter Ave., will provide free parking. The hospital is just a few blocks north of Ellenberger Park.
The program, which will be conducted by ISO Associate Conductor Sean Newhouse, will feature the main theme from the film score Jurassic Park and the "Flight to Neverland" from Hook by John Williams, plus popular classical works such as the Tales from the Vienna Woods Waltzes by Johann Strauss, Jr., Felix Mendelssohn's The Hebrides Overture ("Fingal's Cave"), Anatoli Liadov's Baba-Yaga, the powerful "Storm" and "Finale" from Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F Major ("Pastoral"), and Joaquin Turina's La procession del Rocio to round out the program .
