Bob Young Come on along and listen to Broadway Memories: The Music and the Stars, a 13-part weekly series that begins at 9 tonight (Wednesday) on WFYI-FM (90.1). Host Gary Hofmeister (of Hofmeister Personal Jewelers and a former professional actor) and collaborator Bob Young (former general manager of Starlight Musicals) narrate the hour-long episodes, which will delve into the music and careers of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Rodgers and Hammerstein and many others. The two will share their passion for and knowledge of the golden days of musical theater. Week one begins with Peru native Porter and tunes such as “Anything Goes,” “Begin the Beguine” and “It’s Delovely.” Check out wfyi.org/broadway for more details, including the weekly song lists. And if that’s not enough show tunes for you, WFYI (Channel 20) will air a six-part PBS series, Broadway: The American Musical, from 8 to 10 p.m. Oct. 19-21. That series mines the 100-year history of musical theater and its relationship to 20th century life. The host is another person who knows something about musical theater: Julie Andrews.
