A Drama of Sudden Attenuation CURTAIN RISES (The French have, through the offices of the U.N., taken control of the United States. The Bush Administration has been ousted; the death penalty has been abolished; equality among all is once again a top priority; the American diet is better; the perfume is better; the cinema is better. Everything is better.)

Scene 1: Kitchen of home of Harold and Helen Henderson, 8 a.m. Harold: I think God is angry at us for not displaying the Ten Commandments on the Statehouse lawn, and that is why He let the Frenchies take over. Fuck! I"m so tired of wearing this beret! This is like being in Communistic Russia! Helen: It does look funny on your haid. Harold: That"s it! I"ve had enough of this ... this ... this ... what"s the word ... subjucamafication! (Harold stomps out of house. Helen weeps silently.) Scene 2: Corner of Washington and Alabama streets. (A French gendarme is directing traffic around the new Jacques Chirac Cultural Centre. Harold parks his pink Citroen and approaches gendarme.) Harold : Hey, buster, I want to have a word with you! (Gendarme hits Harold over head with stale baguette. Harold crumples to ground.) THE END
