The Murat Centre has announced a last-minute change to their holiday season lineup. Performances of The Nutcracker originally scheduled by The Moscow Classical Ballet will instead be performed by Indiana Ballet Company.
This production of The Nutcracker will return to its classical folk story origin. In the original, Masha (aka Clara) defeats the Mouse Queen by throwing her shoe and scaring the Queen away. Masha’s tears then turn the Nutcracker into a handsome Prince who takes her to a world where evil doesn’t exist — a world filled with harmony, sweet delights and peace.
The Indiana Ballet Company and its counterpart, the Russian Ballet Academy of Indiana, are primarily made up of former Ballet Internationale professional dancers, instructors and pre-professional students.
Performances are Dec. 16-17 at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets ($30; seniors/military $20; children $15; children 4 and under free) can be purchased at the Murat box office, 502 N. New Jersey St., or by calling Ticketmaster at 317-239-5151.
