A true rock ‘n’ roller, Sammy Hagar didn’t “take the day off” to celebrate his 60th birthday earlier this month. And he definitely has no plans on slowing down in the near future.

Hagar and his band, The Wabos, are on the road for a 60-date, cross-country tour that started with Hagar’s annual two-week birthday bash at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The 13-day party culminated with an all-star show on Hagar’s birthday on October 13th.

Going on the road with Hagar and The Wabos will be Michael Anthony, another former member of Van Halen. At each show, Hagar and Anthony will come together as The Other Half (of Van Halen) to perform a number of Van Halen songs from the Hagar era.

Most of the shows on this tour are at indoor venues, and Hagar seems ready to accept the challenge of moving his three-hour outdoor concert into such settings.

“I have to figure out how to squeeze an outdoor show into an indoor venue, but I’ll get it done,” says Hagar. “It’s going to be one red-hot, kick ass fiesta!”

The year 2007 has been an eventful one for the man known as “The Red Rocker.” In March, Hagar was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen. In June, Hagar released his DVD, Livin’ It Up! in St. Louis. Now comes the tour to celebrate his benchmark birthday.

“The honor of being inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame is simply awesome,” Hagar says. “It’s been a great year all around, and I feel like celebrating, which of course means rockin’ out!”
