Central Indiana Christian Songwriter’s Association hosts the Christian Songwriters in the Round Series on the second Saturday of every month.
1. CROSSOVERroadwww.crossoverroad.comThe roots of this five-piece band began in the late 1980s, and the current lineup has been performing together since 2003. The band’s sound is influenced by folk, bluegrass, pop and gospel. Songwriter Greg O’Haver has been performing for years in various secular bands. The songs are of praise and worship with a good dose of fun thrown in.
2. Betsy Walkerwww.betsywalker.comWalker was the 2004 Indiana Christian Expo Battle of the Bands winner. The singer/songwriter plays guitar and piano and is known for her lyric-driven pop style.
3. Connersvinewww.myspace.com/connersvineDuo Chris Wilson and Hunter Smith met in 2001 while leading a young adult ministry. They recently signed to INO Records and are in the studio recording an acoustic rock-driven album. Smith, by the way, is the punter for the 2007 Super Bowl champions, the Indianapolis Colts.
4. Haste the Daywww.hastetheday.comThe wildly popular Christian metalcore band is touring nationally in support of its just-released CD, Pressure Hinges. The record debuted at No. 89 on the Billboard 200 chart and sold 10,000 in its first week of release.
5. Jeremy Campwww.jeremycamp.comRaised in Lafayette, Ind., Camp is now playing venues across the country, including the House of Blues in Las Vegas. His rock ballads earned him the Songwriter of the Year award at the 2006 ASCAP Christian Music Awards.
