• Hilly Kristal, founder of New York’s CBGB, died at the age of 75 of complications from lung cancer. Kristal ran the club for 33 years, starting the careers of Blondie, The Talking Heads, Television, The Ramones and many others.

• Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello are playing Assembly Hall together in Bloomington, Ind., Oct. 19.

• A Black Sabbath tour including Ozzy is rumored to be in the works for 2008.

• Rapper DMX has been arrested on drug charges after authorities raided his house on reports of pet abuse.

• Supergrass bassist Mick Quinn was hospitalized with a broken back after he sleptwalk out of a window while vacationing. Supergrass had to cancel their upcoming gigs.

• It appears that all of the songs for the upcoming U2 record have been written. U2 collaborated with Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois on the tracks.

• Kanye West’s upcoming record, Graduation, has found its way online.

• Britney Spears’ new single, “Gimme More,” has been released to radio. The track was produced by Nate Hills, who worked on Justin Timberlake’s last album.

• Next month, Amazon.com is expected to launch its digital music store, which will compete against iTunes. The purchased songs will come in MP3 format.
