INDY'S WEEKLY ALTERNATIVE NEWSPAPER HIGHLIGHTING ARTS, ENTERTAINMENT AND SOCIAL JUSTICE

Mark Doty doubleheader

by Editors
Mark Doty will give presentations twice this week.

Mark Doty, the only American poet to have won Great Britain’s T.S. Eliot Prize (only fitting, since Eliot was an American, albeit ex-pat) and author of seven books of poetry, including My Alexandria, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award, will present two programs this week.

Doty will read and discuss his work at the University of Indianapolis in the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center, 1400 E. Hanna Ave., Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. as part of the Kellogg Writers Series and Spirit & Place Festival.

Then, Nov. 16, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Doty will share verbal meditations on selected works in the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s collection at the IMA. Participants will meet in the Efroymson Pavilion and should call 317-923-1331, ext. 296 to make reservations.

These programs are free of charge. For more information, go to http://english.uindy.edu/kellogg/kellogg.html.
