• Static of the Gods (the Boston-based rock band with Indy ties) release their debut full-length album, Cycles Follow Signs, (through recordhead, an Indy record label) on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the Melody Inn with co-performers Eisenhower Field Day at 8 p.m. Admission is $5. The album has reached No. 103 on the CMJ charts and has stayed in the top 200 spots for five weeks.

• The Vulgar Boatmen, with Indy music guru Dale Lawrence, will perform at the Upper Room in Broad Ripple on Saturday, Sept. 15. It will be a reunion of sorts as Lawrence performs with Matt Speake, violist Kathy Kolata and harmonist Janas Hoyt, replicating the band’s early 1990s lineup. The show starts at 10 p.m.
