Monday, July 16, John Zeps (Vibes Music owner, Rifleman Records CEO and member of three different bands) is opening a second store in Broad Ripple to accompany his Northside predecessor. The store will take over the old Funhouse Guitars location at 1051 E. 54th St. “Opening this store is more than a job,” says the 40-year-old storeowner as he paced in and out of the front doorway of his new store while smoking a cigarette.
The new Vibes will be equipped with guitar stations, new and used CDs, an extensive vinyl collection, DVDs, a recording studio and a concert/art gallery space.
An impressive set-up will be matched with knowledgeable employees, like Indy’s Jonee Quest and “Dino” Codalata. Zeps is putting a lot of his own vinyl into the store, which will add nicely to the “crème de la crème of the collection” he bought from Funhouse. “I believe in this town and I love doing it,” he said. “When I stop loving it, I will walk away.”
