
• Indy’s Casey Harshbarger recently performed his original composition, “Seasons,” in a worldwide guitar competition, held in San Francisco, for celebrity judges Nuno Bettencourt, Guitar Player magazine’s editor, Jude Gold, and others. Harshbarger was chosen to compete in the Guitar Hero ’07 competition over hundreds of other applicants. He teaches guitar lessons at Reno’s Music in Fishers. Call 849-5744 for more information.
• Butler University graduate Brian Miller, now the bassist for San Diego-based indie rock/pop band The Material, has a shot at winning this year’s MTV2 Dew Circuit Breakout contest. Previous winners include Yellowcard and Hawthorne Heights. The Material is one of 12 finalists. To move to the next round of elimination, they need fans to vote for them on www.MTV2.com through Sunday, October 28. • Nashville’s Al Jolson Black & White Music recording company has signed Indy native Bob Bullock to an exclusive songwriting contract. He fronted the Hoosier rock band, Bob On This, in the 1980s.
• Starting November 6, Gary Bastin of NSU Events will take over the formerly longest-running drum and bass club night in Indy, Broke(n) Tuesdays, held at the Melody Inn. The new night will be called Control Tuesdays, include multi-genre live acts, DJs and no cover charge.
