‘Fowl Impressions’ by Thomas Woodruff
Freak Parade is a show consisting of 32 works of art by Thomas Woodruff, an artist who has exhibited work throughout the United States and Australia. Woodruff’s mixed-media works are meant to explore what it means to be a freak in a conformist age. He embellishes them with rhinestones. Although this show opens at the Herron Gallery at IUPUI (735 W. New York St.) Aug. 8, the public reception for this show and Clayfest, a biennial exhibition of ceramic works by current and former Indiana residents, won’t take place until Sept. 5, 5-8 p.m. Another reception, featuring Woodruff, happens Sept. 18, also from 5-8 p.m., with the artist presenting a lecture at 6:30 p.m. The Herron’s regular gallery hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday (open till 8 on Thursdays). Admission is free. For more information, go to www.herron.iupui.edu.
