One word about your column concerning Carmel (Hammer, “Carmel Must Be Stopped,” June 7-14). Excellent!

Except ...

You made an incredible blunder calling those possessed Carmelites "soccer moms." For instance, soccer moms were considered an important constituency in Bill Clinton's two presidential wins. And they care about environmental issues, etc.

The correct term for those women is: desperate housewives or even Stepford wives. The soccer moms we know are hard-working women, devoted to their job, children and politically active.

How about an apology?
