INDY'S WEEKLY ALTERNATIVE NEWSPAPER HIGHLIGHTING ARTS, ENTERTAINMENT AND SOCIAL JUSTICE

Christmas on the Farm

by Shawndra Miller

Traders Point Creamery is the site of Saturday’s Christmas on the Farm, featuring live music, farm fresh breakfast and lunch and an appearance by St. Nicholas. All this while the regular winter farmer’s market showcases local homemade food, organic produce and meats and holiday gifts.

Kid-oriented crafts, sing-along caroling and bell ringing promise to make the event a family-friendly one. In addition to offering samples of Traders Point’s hot chocolate, yogurts and award-winning cheeses, the dairy is launching a new seasonally appropriate product: organic eggnog.

Gail Alden, special events coordinator, says the local organic dairy decided to partner with United Christmas Service, a division of United Way, on a “giving tree” for local families in need. “If [attendees] donate, they can decorate a cowbell and hang it on the giving tree,” she says. “We’re hoping to fill the tree. Every penny that’s collected will go straight to UCS to give to those [families].”

Christmas at the Farm will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 8 at Traders Point Creamery in Zionsville. More information: 317-733-1700.
