CD Review: Antietam

Louisville’s Antietam has been around the block a few times. From its days as a Homestead band in the Reagan era, it has continuously kept its blend of Southern gothic dream pop relevant and fresh. Antietam’s newest project, Opus Mixtum, is a concept based on tired ideas. Who makes double albums these days? And who makes one CD rocking and the other acoustic? I mean, besides Foo Fighters. Well, Antietam has and it’s a doozy.

The combined strengths of core members Tara Key and Tim Harris make this affair anything but tired and over-indulgent. Both CDs in this set are sterling examples of first-rate indie-rock songcraft.
