Iraqi War Widow: "Death Not as Painful to Us"

In an exclusive NUVO interview, an Iraqi woman who is the widow of a recently killed Iraqi soldier confirmed that she really isn"t too upset. "As many Americans have suspected all along, we Iraqis don"t care as deeply about our loved one"s deaths as you all do," said Jamila Shahristani, whose infant daughter was also killed in a Baghdad bombing raid. "I am so very excited about our new U.S.-given freedom that the grief is more like a pin-prick." Ms. Shahristani was disappointed over one thing: Household duties kept her from enthusiastically greeting U.S. tanks rumbling through her neighborhood. "I want the brave soldiers who killed my husband and thousands of my countrymen to know that I have no hard feelings," she said. "I still have a lot of blood and rubble to clean up, and a couple of funerals to plan, so I regret I couldn"t relay my feelings in person. But please tell them, "God bless America.""
