Eating books

by Colin Dullaghan

Museum

As near as we can tell, The International Edible Book Festival, coming April 1, is not a joke. It really will be held at the Eiteljorg Museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., there really will be books there made by local folks and they really will be books you could eat.

If this is some kind of elaborate April Fools joke, it’s a good one. For starters, it’s gone on for six years now, and it nicely coincides with the birthday of Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826), the famous French gastronome. Plus, they give out prizes for Best Literary Pun, Best Interpretation of a Western and so on.
