Other Katrina relief efforts

Efforts to help with the human and animal victims of Hurricane Katrina abound in Indianapolis. Here’s a partial roundup of what’s going on.

Several groups are launching entertainment events to benefit the Red Cross this weekend (see Music section page 38 for info on Gumbo Aid).

The comedy troupe Indy-Prov is contributing with a benefit show at Talbott Street Nightclub (2145 N. Talbott St.) on Friday, Sept. 16 at 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. They are asking for a $5 donation that will go to the Red Cross. Visit www.indyprov.com for more information.

Bike Line and Body Sculpture by Jody are hosting a ride to raise money Sept. 18 at 8 a.m. The ride leaves Bike Line’s Carmel store at 116th Street and Rangeline Road. It is a 15-mile ride. All of the $20 minimum contribution per rider or $30 per family goes to the Red Cross. Any rider making a contribution of $100 or more will receive a T-shirt and water bottle from Bike Line and a free training session at Body Sculpture by Jody. Noah’s Wish, a not-for-profit, animal welfare organization, is seeking volunteers and donations to help with animal rescue efforts in the area. Noah’s Wish is also working to reunite pets with their owners. Visit www.noahswish.org for more information.
