	My (white) man Mitch. So far, Gov.-elect Mitch Daniels has tapped mostly middle-aged white men like himself for top state appointments. There’s not much he can do about that since he’s mainly limited to picking Indiana Republicans.
	Out of reach. A new study reveals a huge gap between what people earn and their housing costs. More than one-third of the nation is paying too much of their income for their homes. Hoosiers earning minimum wage must work at least 60 hours a week to afford a one-bedroom, market-rate apartment.
	Environmental consequences. A recent study has found that the effects of Guide Corporation’s dumping of chemicals into the White River in 1999, which led to a massive fish kill, are likely to linger for as long as 10 years. On the up side, the catastrophe has prompted the state to restock native fish that had been missing prior to the kill.
