Indianapolis Civic Theatre will break in their new home on the campus of Marian College with Barnum, the story of the legendary, bigger-than-life Prince of Humbug, Phineas T. Barnum.

The musical traces Barnum’s career from 1835 to the year he joined James A. Bailey to form “The Greatest Show on Earth.” The show will include innovative circus-ring staging, with clowns, acrobats, jugglers, tightrope walkers and more.

An opening night celebration will be held Sept. 10, 6:30 p.m. The free pre-show gala will include sample fare from Alcatraz Brewing Company, Aramark Classic Fare Catering, Abyssinia Ethiopian Restaurant and complimentary drinks. The Peru Circus will provide entertainment. A raffle will be conducted for an all-inclusive trip for two to Las Vegas to see Cirque du Soleil. Raffle tickets are $20, and only 250 will be sold. Cocktail attire is requested.

Show dates are Sept. 10-26, Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays-Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m. and Sept. 18 and 25 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25-$28 ($5 off Thursdays). The Civic is now located at 3200 Cold Spring Road. For tickets and information, call 923-4597 or go to www.civictheatre.org.
