Starbucks, the large retail coffee chain, unveiled yesterday a new product that will combat the tooth staining caused by the drinking of coffee. “Mocha Java Latte With A Shot Of Vanilla” whitening strips will be available at all Starbucks stores as well as on the Starbucks Web site by mid-May, company spokesman Alex Bean said. “It will be a tooth whitening strip that will have the flavor of a mocha java latte with a shot of vanilla,” he explained. The move has been described by one coffee trade journal as an “organic, synergistic marketing triumph.” The strips will come in three sizes — tall, for smaller teeth; grande, for larger teeth; and venti, for really big teeth.
