An electric guitar from artist Erik SmithIt’s springtime, which means time to make the pilgrimage to the riverside grounds of the Indianapolis Art Center for the annual Broad Ripple Art Fair. The fair typically attracts as many as 25,000 visitors to examine the juried wares of 225 artists and artisans, sample a variety of foods on offer and enjoy four stages devoted to live entertainment, including a performance by Grammy nominated jazz vocalist Typhanie Monique. This year, 35 percent of the artists are new to the fair; there will also be plenty of special activities for kids, Art Center class demonstrations and, for $5, the chance to throw (as in create) your own ceramic pot.
Advance tickets are $12 and can be purchased at Marsh Supermarkets, Fifth Third Banks and at the IAC. Adult gate tickets are $15; $2 for children 3-12. The fair takes place May 17 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and May 18 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The Indianapolis Art Center campus is located at 820 E. College Ave. For more information, call 317-255-2464 or visit www.IndplsArtCenter.org.
