Sure, he can talk about changing the batteries in my dead vibrator with an eloquence unmatched in this presidential race, but when it comes down to actually unscrewing the base of the artificial phallus, correctly inserting four double-A batteries, two plus-side down and two minus-side down, it is my opinion Barack Obama would shit his pants. I, on the other hand, have extensive experience in changing battery-operated dildos. I've been changing them for the last twenty years with great success. Ring in the new year at NUVO’s New Year’s Eve Rock ’n’ Roll Ball, starting at 8:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency.
Over on the NUVO stage, you’ve got the Mudkids- NUVO's Best of Indy pick for best band- and DJs Helicon and Rusty. It's in the brand new Cosmopolitan Ballroom on the 3rd floor! Check out my IMC interview with DJ Rusty (of Mudkids) himself! At the X-103 Atrium Stage, you can check out The Why Store, The Virgin Millionaires (who picked up a recording contract earlier this year and still seem poised for their climb to the top) and X-Ray Roger Jimmy. Carl Storie heads up events in the Grand Ballroom all night long. And for those more inclined to laughs than rhythms, Scott Long will provide comedy on a separate stage. If you want to drop some fantasy cash... whatever that is... the “Player’s Lounge” fantasy casino is open all night long. New Year’s Eve Rock ‘n’ Roll Ball Hyatt Regency, 1 S. Capital Ave. NUVO stage: Mudkids, DJ Helicon, DJ Rusty X-103 stage: Virgin Millionaires, The Why Store, X-Ray Roger Jimmy Grand Ballroom: Carl Storie Comedy stage: Scott Long 8:30 p.m.-2:30 a.m.; $49 general admission, $79 VIP package per person (not including a room); 21+; for room reservations, call 800-233-1234 Wednesday, August 22. 2007Comments (0) Trackbacks (0) The Resignation of a Mastermind
Karl Rove announced his resignation at the end of this month, and spent most of the weekend taking down the inspirational posters in his office. Oh, and he stopped by somewhere between one and all of the Sunday political talk shows. Contrary to popular belief, “The Architect” is pretty gay for the Fourth Estate, but he’s wise enough not to wear his heart on his sleeve. Just imagine his self-restraint while lost in those dreamy eyes of NBC’s David Gregory on Meet the Press.

Wednesday, July 11. 2007Nerds, geeks catch Potter 5 early
Snarky headline aside, we tried to get tickets to a midnight show of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix last night but weren't able to since everyone else seems to have had the same idea.

Here's my review of "Knocked Up." My review of "Hostel: Part II" should be up soon. Maybe if I have the time I'll also do a post about the various presidential nominees of both parties. (I have a few thoughts that have been developing.) Stay tuned...
Monday, June 11. 2007Sopranos swan song
Once I heard a rumor that Indianapolis was controlled by a Jewish mafia that operated out of a movie theater on the Westside. Admittedly, that is a tenuous connection to The Sopranos, but since Tony and crew aired their final episode last night, we'll need something to capture our imaginations.

I'm now going to be doing a review every week for WTHR's website. Here's the first, "Shrek the Third," which I found to be much better than most critics are saying. Next week will probably be the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie.

Here.Grindhouse
I must say that I'm quick shocked that "Grindhouse" didn't do better at the box office. It opened at 4th and made less than $12 million (it cost $53 million.) Too bad. I was really expecting it to at least be #1. I guess it's unlikely that we'll get a sequel now. Tuesday, April 3. 2007Comments (0) Trackbacks (0) "Blades of Glory" Review
Isn't it odd that sometimes you can have a lot more to say about a bad movie than you can a good one? My review of "Blades of Glory." I'll have another review in a few days when I review "Grindhouse."
