Several hundred zombies from across Indianapolis met Saturday for the 7th Annual Broad Ripple Zombie Walk (check out photos from last year's Zombie Walk here). The Zombie Walk, sponsored by IndyMojo, is held each year as a venue to help raise canned goods for Gleaners Food Bank. Last year, over 3400 pounds of canned food were collected.

Zombies of all types and manner began arriving at the Kroger parking lot in Broad Ripple just before 5 o'clock on Saturday evening. Promoters of the affair provided makeup stations for zombies requiring extra touch-ups; buckets of fake blood for dribbling effects were available as well as a pesticide tank with pressure hose for zombies who preferred their blood applied in spray form.

In addition to the Zombie Walk, several other events were scheduled throughout the evening, including a Zombie Prom at Tru Nightclub, a Zombie Feast at Hot Box Pizza and Indiana's first official Zombie wedding. Charles and Deena Paschke, who met at last year's walk, were married in a circus-like atmosphere of clawing arms and zombie groans. A zombie preacher performed the ceremony. The bride wore white, and the bridesmaids all wore black and carried bouquets of dead flowers.

Zombies assembled into formation at 7 o'clock to walk three blocks of Broad Ripple Avenue. Spectators gathered along the path snapping photos and taking videos; traffic moved slowly as drivers stopped to view the stumbling hoard.

Promoters estimated last year's head count at 800 zombies and said that this year was much bigger. No official zombie count for this year has yet been released.
