'Will Boys Be Boys'

The Indianapolis Museum of Art’s new Forefront exhibit is Will Boys Be Boys? Questioning Adolescent Masculinity in Contemporary Art. It is the first museum survey of male adolescence.

Forefront is an ongoing series of exhibitions that present recent work by international artists and offer a changing view of major developments in the art world. Will Boys Be Boys is a traveling exhibit organized and circulated by Independent Curators International, New York, and examines the nature of adolescent masculinity in recent contemporary art, with more than 40 works by 10 contemporary artists or artist teams.

The exhibit opens Oct. 20 and includes two special events. Oct. 19, artist Anthony Goicolea will join Type A, a two-man collective of artists Adam Ames and Andrew Bordwin, for a discussion about their work, and Oct. 26, David Hoppe’s play After Paul McCartney, a one-man show featuring Rob Johansen and directed by John Green, will be presented. It is the story of two friends’ search for the famous Beatle.

Will Boys Be Boys will be on view through Jan. 14. For more information, call the IMA, 4000 Michigan Road, at 317-923-1331 or go to www.ima-art.org.
